Our Scuba diving career development programme will see you progress through from entry level scuba qualification to a fully fledged SSI Open Water Instructor:
Open Water Diver - This course is the start of a happy and pleasurable hobby. Lectures and pool training run for three days, and thereafter you do five open water dives to qualify you as a diver.
Stress & Rescue Diver - The Stress & Rescue diver is an important link in the chain of safety. On this course you will attend lectures involving rescue techniques, recognizing emergency situations and reacting in an emergency. You will firstly practice rescue scenarios in a controlled environment followed by two open water dives which will put your skills and knowledge to the test. This is a fun course with lots of practice, and it is definitely one of the most rewarding courses.
Advanced Open Water Diver - SSI’s Advanced Diver rating stands alone in the industry with the highest combination of diving knowledge and experience. No other agency’s advanced diver level compares. To earn the certification for Advanced Open Water Diver, you will complete 4 specialty courses with us and have done a total of 24 dives.
All training materials, registration and equipment for the above courses are supplied....no hidden costs involved!
Science of Diving -this is a truly interesting course which teaches you more about the physics and physiology you should take into consideration when diving.
Dive Guide - this course will prepare you to conduct dive briefings and lead qualified divers on underwater tours. It is a fun course that will build your diving confidence and experience.
Dive Control Specialist (DCS) - a fun but intense course, this is just below Instructor Level and with this qualification you can easily start earning an income from your diving. You will be qualified to organize, conduct and lead dives for qualified divers. As a DCS you can also teach lecture and pool classes with indirect supervision. By assisting an active SSI Instructor with open water training the DCS can collect valuable training experience which is the best possible preparation for an Instructor Training Course (ITC).
As a certified SSI Dive Control Specialist (DCS) you can:
- Lead and guide certified divers
- Assist SSI Instructors in the classroom, pool and open water
- Teach skills in the classroom and pool under indirect supervision of an SSI Instructor (except emergency skills)
- Teach the SSI Scuba Skills Update, Snorkeling and Try Scuba (pool only) programs
SSI Open Water Instructor - The SSI Instructor is many things - an organizer, a guide, a mentor, a spokesperson, an environmentalist, a marketer, but above all else, the SSI Instructor is a teacher!
Earning the coveted SSI Instructor rating is not easy. But as with all great personal achievements, the rewards far outweigh the challenges. SSI Instructors pride themselves on their diving knowledge and skills. They are also aware of the importance of a good attitude and professional behaviour. Proper preparation is inspired by this professional attitude.
As an Open Water Instructor (OWI) you can teach and issue certifications for:
- Indoor Diver
- Scuba Diver
- Junior Open Water Diver
- Open Water Diver
